2005 Steamboat Scholars gather at a Leadership Dinner with Dr. Tom Inck (second from the left).
Every other week, the Scholars gather for a dinner and structured conversation about leadership, facilitated by consultant and psychologist, Dr. Tom Inck. During each gathering, Dr. Inck encourages the Scholars to examine and develop their thinking on what it means to be a leader and the role of risk-taking in their personal and professional development.
These Leadership Dinners enable Scholars to assess the convergence of their academic, professional, and personal goals. The three Steamboat Foundation values of integrity, work ethic, and risk-taking provide the framework for this reflection. There are very few forums for students excelling in different fields – from business journalism to public service to fashion design to cancer research – to come together in this kind of extended and meaningful conversation.

2007 Steamboat Scholars honor the conclusion of the Summer Scholar Program at the Final Dinner.
By the conclusion of the summer, these discussions create a common bond among a group of young people whose diverse backgrounds and interests might not have otherwise brought them together. The Leadership Dinners culminate in a Final Dinner where the Scholars invite family and loved ones to share in the personal and professional growth they have experienced over the Steamboat summer.
The Scholars sharpen the focus on their progress in one-on-one meetings and follow-up dialogue with Dr. Inck and by writing final essays and evaluations at the end of the summer. These reflections lead to more informed - and sometimes entirely new - choices about their futures.
