Generous Financial Award

2008 Class of Steamboat Scholars at the Final Dinner with Steamboat Executives

2008 Class of Steamboat Scholars at the Final Dinner with Steamboat executives.

Each Scholar receives a financial award of $12,000 during the ten-week period of the Steamboat experience. This award gives Steamboat Scholars - all of whom have demonstrated financial need - the opportunity to live and work in New York or Boston, while focusing on their professional and personal growth without the constraints of financial concerns. Scholars are expected to manage their expenses responsibly and use a portion of their award towards required housing and other costs. Scholars are also required to submit a final essay and program evaluation that reflect upon their summer experiences in order to receive their final award payments.

"The financial award is obviously incredibly generous, but nearly every Steamboat alumni I know says that they would have chosen to participate, even without the money. The experience is so meaningful, so eye-opening, so inspiring that the $12,000 is merely the cherry on top."

- James Kuczmarski, Steamboat Scholar '07
