Each year, one Steamboat Scholar is selected from the junior class at Boston College to observe and participate in the multiple facets of professional sports management at the New York Football Giants.
Holding a unique position, the Steamboat Scholar is assigned to the core front office team and is positioned according departmental needs in either the Public Relations, Community Relations, or Marketing department. At the outset of the internship, the Scholar works in each area before focusing on one for the duration of the internship. The Scholar's primary Senior Mentors are Peter John-Baptiste, Director of Public Relations, Allison Stangeby, Director of Community Relations, and/or Ethan Medley, Director of Marketing Services and Youth Program Development.
New York City was introduced to professional football and the New York Football Giants in 1925. The Giants have since won 18 NFL Divisional Championships and seven NFL championships, including three Super Bowl championship titles.
