Each year since 2009, one Steamboat Scholar is selected from the junior class at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism to work at Forbes Media. Previous Forbes Scholars were selected from Princeton University.
Tom Post, Managing Editor at Forbes, is the Medill Steamboat Scholar’s Senior Mentor. He edits cover stories, middle- and front-of-the-book features, the "Heads Up" section and, frequently, Life and Marketing stories. He also oversees Forbes.com’s Europe home page, the Life channel, and the Chief Marketing Officer network.
Forbes will put the Steamboat Scholar to work, conducting research and interviewing sources, on the phone and in person, on a wide range of topics. The Scholar will have a chance to interact with other reporters, writers and editors at the magazine, and to have a stint at our website, Forbes.com. The goal is for the Scholar to end the summer with bylines in print and online.
