Tori Stilwell is a senior journalism and economics double major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was not sure she wanted to be a journalist until entering college, were she joined the staff of the Daily Tar Heel and now serves as it's City Editor. In 2010, Tori worked with the Cold Case Civil Rights Project in Louisiana. Under the guidance of local newspaper editor Stanley Nelson, Tori had the chance to conduct investigative journalism to help solve two local civil rights murders. One, the murder of Frank Morris, was eventually solved by Nelson in a story that broke in early January. Tori also is a fitness instructor for UNC's campus recreation department and also works as an official University tour guide. Tori is also a Morehead-Cain scholar at UNC
Tori's time at Bloomberg was split between two operations: News and Businessweek. While on the stocks team, led by Nick Baker, Tori reported on market's daily performance as well as the factors behind those movements. Specifically, she worked on market movers, a list of companies with unusual share-price movements, and the market wrap, which is consistently one of the most-read stories on the Bloomberg terminal each day. At Businessweek, Tori worked for a number of different teams including B-Schools, the online source for business school-related information led by Lou Lavelle, and Small Business, headed by Nick Leiber. She also compiled data for Businessweek's popularity issue, which contains information on the most popular products and people throughout the world. Tori spent her first week at the company on the billionaire's team as a part of a new wealth effort by Bloomberg News and Matt Miller. Tori also had the pleasure of Tom Keene's company twice a week for mentor meetings and sit-ins on Tom's radio show and television spots.
Tori is currently finishing her senior year at UNC.
