"Looking back, it has been a summer of self-discovery and personal growth that has been a result of observation of the excellent people by which I was surrounded. I feel as if my interactions with the other Scholars and our Steamboat mentors have taught me more about myself than any other choice I could have made for this summer."

Scholar Background

A performer at an early age, Paul was only four when he appeared in a production of Oliver and has since performed in over 100 shows. As a member of The Mask and Wig Club, a professional touring musical comedy troupe, Paul was able to put on many hats and participate as a writer, director, manager, and actor. Combining his passions for media, technology, entertainment, and business, Paul worked at MTV as an international production management intern while at Penn. At MTV, Paul was able to take a leadership role coordinating a shoot with MTV Deutschland for the show Total Request Live (TRL), leading the crew through city regulations as well as using his German to translate for the international team. He gained further access to the business and finance world through his work at Morgan Stanley and Northwestern Financial Network. Paul has always shown great interest in technology and its ability to enhance both media and business, leading to his job at Microsoft after graduating in 2006.

Internship Highlight

At WPLJ, Paul gained experience in four core departments: programming, promotion, sales, and finance/administration. He was involved in organizing the 2005 Sean Hannity Freedom Concert, creating proposals for the Mark Levin Golf Outing and New York Jets Cruise, and revamping WPLJ’s marketing and promotional materials. Toward the end of his internship, Paul learned that the profile sheets and PowerPoint sales presentation that he created were going to be produced in quantity and used by all WPLJ account executives to develop new business with organizations nationwide.

Where are they now?

Paul is currently leading the U.S. Web Initiative at Microsoft in New York City. He is responsible for coordinating campaigns, programs, and field activities to grow Microsoft's share of web tools and infrastructure.

At Microsoft, Paul has received an Outstanding Individual Award, Partner Evangelism Award, CSI Compete Champion Award, Outstanding Mentor Award, and Gold Star Award for long-term potential.
