A passionate individual who is not afraid to speak her mind, Kim learned during her Steamboat summer that holding onto one's passion can shape the direction of one's life. Her experience at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum confirmed her deep interest in art and the curatorial world. At Williams, Kim held leadership positions in many on-campus organizations, including the Black Student Union, the Gargoyle Society - an organization dedicated to the betterment of student and community life - and the College Council, of which she was Co-President. Kim was recognized for her commitment to diversity, social change, and speaking out against prejudice as the recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Social Justice Award at Williams.
At the Gardner Museum, Kim researched the museum’s artist-in-residence program and presented a creative demo for the Contemporary Curatorial department’s website. She worked closely and learned a great deal about art and herself from her mentor Pieranna Cavalchini, the Curator of the Contemporary Collection and Anne Hawley, the Director of the Museum.
After serving as part of the New York City corps of Teach For America, teaching English as a Second Language for two years, Kim remained teaching in the Bronx. In Fall 2011 she will began teaching at Harlem Prep, a new charter school that is part of the Democracy Prep Network.
