Aspiring to start her own fashion line, Freyja has cultivated her artistic and design skills at the Art Institute of Chicago in the drawing and fashion programs. She was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship at Parsons and was a Semi-Finalist in the 2007 GAP Competition. In her junior year, Freyja helped organize what the Parsons professors deemed the most successful Junior Show they had seen. In her senior year, Freyja worked diligently on her senior thesis: designing her own line of clothing that will concentrate on evening wear and accessories. In Spring 2008, Freyja received the Bucol Award for her senior thesis collection, granted to a student of Parsons The New School for Design for the best use and interpretation of Solstiss Bucol laces and silks.
Throughout her internship, Freyja worked with the design team at Vineyard Vines on the Summer and Fall ‘08 Women’s Collection and the Fall ‘08 Men’s and Children’s Collections. In addition to clothing lines, she designed the accessories for the Summer and Fall '08 Collections, which included purses, bags, totes, wristlets, card cases, and wallets. Freyja also joined apparel designers on consultation meetings to help determine what materials were used for the samples.
After graduation Freyja worked as an assistant designer at Kate Spade and then as a designer at Prarie New York. She is currently a designer at Shoshanna.
