A two-sport star athlete in high school, Emily has always felt comfortable on the basketball court or soccer field. Throughout her college career, Emily fostered a passion for sports both on and off the field, working with the Athletic Media Relations department for Football, Men’s Basketball and Hockey during all four years of college. Emily also applied her drive and curiosity to her studies, graduating cum laude from Boston College with a minor in Faith, Peace & Justice. She served as the junior board member for the Massachusetts Service Alliance for four years, volunteered for a service immersion trip in Kingston, Jamaica, and led a Kairos spiritual retreat for fellow Boston College students during her senior year. Her academic studies and extracurriular activities offered her an opportunity to explore questions in faith, peace, and justice and how they related to concrete initiatives for social justice and philanthropy.
Emily worked with the Public Relations department to coordinate player interviews at the NFL pre-season training camp as well as various public relations projects throughout the summer, including archive development and press release writing. During her internship with the Giants, she was able to see firsthand the media's demands on players, coaches, and certain staff members. This experience sparked her interest in working with the players on various issues such as degree completion, counseling, and financial education as positive ways to deal with the stress of their current jobs and prepare for different jobs after their playing days are over. She pursued this interest immediately after graduation by accepting a job as the Player Development Coordinator with the team.
After working for four years for the New York Giants in both Player Development and the Marketing department, Emily was pleased to come full circle as the Program Director of Steamboat Foundation.
