A former social chair for the Princeton University Press Club - one of the oldest and most distinguished groups of professional collegiate journalists in America - Elyse has reported for Dow Jones, The Associated Press, and The American Scholar. She has worked as a research assistant for several non-fiction books. Elyse was also a columnist and reporter for the Princeton Alumni Weekly. “Reporting keeps you myriad-minded,” she says. “You go in with one idea and find another.” Elyse let off steam writing for the Princeton Triangle Club, the collegiate musical-comedy troupe; her work has appeared in the New York Fringe Festival. A recipient of the prestigious English Junior Prize, the Comprehensive Examination Prize, and the Class of 1859 Prize, Elyse graduated summa cum laude in 2007.
Elyse’s assignments at Forbes, which included interviews, writing, pitching stories, and marathon research sessions, furnished a mobile view of a national publishing and media company. As a Forbes 400 intern, she worked the phone tirelessly to reach key contacts and tracked capital through dozens of industries. Elyse noted that the experience offered a closer look at the world of financial journalism.
Elyse is now pursuing a Ph.D. in English Literature at Yale University, where she teaches English literature and nonfiction writing. In 2010 she won a Prize Teaching Fellowship, the highest award that Yale gives for teaching by graduate students.
