Motivated by the hard work and love his parents showed him at a young age, Carlos has devoted himself since high school to being a well-rounded individual with a special interest in people and the service/hospitality industry. Since his freshmen year at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, Carlos has been involved in a variety of student organizations geared towards his passion for hospitality and the advancement of minorities within this field. Currently, he is the Northeast Regional Chair for the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality, where he works with other students to find opportunities for minority students to interact with business professionals. He continues his dedication to community service through his role as the president of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity. Carlos has also been awarded various forms of recognition for his constant commitment to service and hard work.
The highlight of Carlos’ summer was being able to see the progression and development of the Shake Shack brand. Luckily, there were a variety of different stages of development, so he had the opportunity to see what it takes to start a new business and turn it into the final product. In addition to actually spending time working in the Madison Square Park Shake Shack location, Carlos was assigned a total of twelve independent projects for the summer. These projects included: Restaurant and kitchen design, website design and auditing, new marketing campaigns, the creation of training manuals and templates, creating an emergency manual, and performing real marketing and SWOT analysis for future USHG restaurant locations.
Carlos is finishing his senior year at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration.
