Having won numerous awards for her artwork and designs throughout her high school career in Harlan, Iowa, Anna found herself wondering how creativity could lead her to a career that not only fulfills her own desire to express herself but is also of benefit to others. In 2007, during her freshman year at Iowa State University, Anna found this balance in the calling of fashion design. Anna chose to major in Iowa State's Apparel, Merchandising, Design, and Production (AMDP) program with emphasis on creative fashion design, while also minoring in Spanish and Political Science. She has been involved in Iowa State's fashion club (MODA), the design layout committee in Iowa State's only fashion magazine (TREND), the Costume Design Club and an annual fashion seminar to aspiring young designers from her home town. Anna has also been actively involved in her campus community through Spanish Club, Political Parties Club, and as President of the Freeman Vollmer House.
Anna developed the men's wear colorway reference library, the fabric library, helped to bring together design concepts on presentation boards (for both men's and women's wear), and created BlueCherry (garment TEC software system) garment references. Her favorite project by far was helping set up for the Saks Fifth Avenue meeting which inluded organizing the models and helping to set up key looks for the showing. Her final project consisted of designing six men's tops and six women's tops which were presented to Vineyard Vines' CEOs and Co-Founders, Ian and Shep Murray, along with the head designers of men's and women's wear. Anna's designs are under consideration for production in Fall 2011.
Anna graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Fashion Design, minoring in Political Science. She plans on taking the LSAT test in December 2011 and will be applying for law schools to pursue a career in fashion law.
