2007 Scholars get to know New York City and each other during Orientation.
Each summer – before the Steamboat Scholars begin their internships or have even finished unpacking their new rooms – the whole group gathers for two days of orientation with Steamboat executives and distinguished leadership consultant Dr. Tom Inck. This Scholar Orientation introduces Scholars to each other and to the challenges and opportunities of the summer. Scholars are prepared for their internships, participate in community-building exercises that take them all over Manhattan, and begin an intensive conversation about leadership with Dr. Inck that continues throughout the summer.

On the second evening of Scholar Orientation, Christopher Forbes, Vice Chairman of Forbes, has generously hosted an elegant reception at the Forbes Galleries to honor the incoming class of Steamboat Scholars. The Scholars introduce themselves and have the chance to meet University Partner and Grant Partner representatives, Foundation guests, as well as their extended "family" of Steamboat alumni Scholars. In 2007, 60% of alumni Scholars returned to meet the incoming class.
