James Kuczmarski '07 has received a Fulbright grant to India for one year beginning in August 2010. Working with TERI University in New Delhi, he will study ways to reduce black carbon emissions, or soot. This substance contributes significantly to global warming and causes respiratory illnesses that kill approximately half a million Indians each year. James's ultimate goal is to develop black carbon mitigation strategies that could apply to all large cities in the region.
