Steamboat Foundation announced today that thirteen undergraduate students have been selected as the 2009 Steamboat Scholars. This designation recognizes each award recipient's talent, passion, and record of achievement. These students have been singled out for their promise to become engaged leaders in their chosen field of interest.
The sixth class of Steamboat Scholars was selected from a pool of 148 candidates reviewed by Steamboat's University Partners. Of these candidates, 82 Semi-Finalists were interviewed on-campus by Steamboat executives, and 40 were chosen as Finalists to interview with the corresponding Grant Partner.
Steamboat proudly welcomed three new partnerships this year, selecting the first Union Square Hospitality Group Scholar from Cornell School of Hotel Administration, the first Reed Hilderbrand Scholar from University of Virginia School of Architecture, and the Forbes Scholar from new University Partner, Medill at Northwestern University.
