Natasha Alford ‘07 was recently named Leadership Fellow at The Equity Project, a charter school in Washington Heights that is acclaimed for its high salary and rigorous application process for teachers.

Ben Nwachukwu ‘07 became the first alumnus to receive a Special Grant from Steamboat. Currently at Harvard Medical School, Ben performed a needs assessment at the National Orthopaedic Hospital in his home country of Nigeria.

Lina Tetelbaum ’06, a student at Yale Law School, was selected to receive the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans in 2008. In 2009, Lina was chosen by the Academy of Achievement to attend the 2009 International Summit in South Africa.

Chike Ibeabuchi ’05, a student at Northeastern Law School, was awarded the Adler Pollock & Sheehan Diversity Scholarship given to a first-year minority student who has demonstrated academic excellence and commitment to the community.

Prem Thomas ’04 was recently selected as a Kiva Fellow and assigned to work in Manila, Philippines. In the wake of Hurricane Ondoy, Prem is spending three months building Kiva's impact with a local microfinance institution.

Emily Ryan '04. After four years working in Player Development and Marketing at the New York Giants, where she was the first Steamboat Scholar in 2004, Emily returned to Steamboat as our full-time Associate.

Emad Atiq '08 was awarded the Gates Cambridge Scholarship and is currently attending the University of Cambridge pursuing a Masters in Philosophy degree in analytic philosophy.

Kristen Daley '06 surpassed the $20,000 mark in her fundraising for Dana Farber Cancer Institute, where she was the Steamboat Scholar in 2006. She has now completed three Boston Marathons as a Dana Farber Marathon Challenge team member.
